T&T OLYMPIC TEAM TTO PARTNERS

Trinidad and Tobago’s Shakeil Waithe held off a strong challenge from Grenada’s five-time Carifta champion Anderson Peters to win the Hampton International Games men’s javelin title, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, on Sunday.

Waithe landed the spear 77.17 metres, just 13 centimetres short of his 77.30 personal best. Peters earned silver with a 76.75m throw, while bronze went to Guyana’s Leslain Baird (62.12m).

Waithe’s Rebirth teammate, Quincy Wilson threw 55.98m to win the men’s discus, while Toco TAFAC’s Cherisse Murray topped the women’s shot put field with a 14.83m effort.

Simplex athlete Kamaria Durant captured the women’s 200m title in a wind-assisted 23.19 seconds to complete the sprint double. Romona Modeste (23.66) finished second, and Mauricia Prieto (23.95) third.
There was a sprint double too for Levi Cadogan. The Barbadian followed up on his men’s 100m triumph with 200m gold in 20.56 seconds. T&T’s Kyle Greaux clocked 20.66 to secure silver.

Barbadian Anthonio Mascoll returned a time of one minute, 50.43 seconds to strike gold in the men’s 800m, forcing Nicholas Landeau (1:52.08) and Ashton Gill (1:53.47) to settle for silver and bronze, respectively.

Kern Alexis emerged victorious in the men’s 400m hurdles, the Memphis Pioneers athlete getting home in 52 seconds flat. And Guyana’s Doman Williams produced a 14.18m effort for top spot in the men’s triple jump.
